HomeMy WebLinkAbout19051 ORD - 10/15/1985AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH NORTHDALE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW CITY HALL FACILITY; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A TESTING CONTRACT WITH GULF COAST TESTING LABORATORY; APPROPRIATING $9,392,199.18; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Northdale Construction Company of Houston, Texas, for the construction of a new City Hall Facility at Leopard and Staples Street, all as more fully set forth in plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Northdale Construction Company said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a testing contract with Gulf Coast Testing Laboratory at a cost not to exceed $37,500. SECTION 3. That there is hereby appropriated $9,392,199.18 from the No. 210 City Hall Bond Fund applicable to Project No. 210-83-1.1, New City Hall Facility. SECTION 4. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 15th day of October, 1985.
