HomeMy WebLinkAbout19094 ORD - 11/19/1985TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH E. J. NETEK CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE CROSSINGS AT THE WEST OSO HIGH SCHOOL AND TULOSO-MIDWAY/RAND MORGAN HIGH SCHOOL; APPROPRIATING $23,000; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with E. J. Netek Construction Company for the construction of pedestrian bridge crossings at the West Oso High School and Tuloso-Midway/Rand Morgan High School, all as more fully set forth in plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of E. J. Netek Construction Company, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $23,000 from the No. 220 Street Bond Fund to supplement previously appropriated llth Year Community Development Block Grant funds in the amount of $25,000 authorized by passage of Ordinance No. 18935 dated July 23, 1985, for a total of $48,000 of which $37,611.60 is for the contract award and $10,388.40 is for additional engineering, contingencies, testing and related expenses applicable to Project No. 220-82-11.3, West Oso High School and Tuloso-Midway/Rand Morgan High School Pedestrian Bridge Crossings. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 19th day of November, 1985.
