HomeMy WebLinkAbout19138 ORD - 12/31/1985• AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 53, TRAFFIC, SECTION V, INCREASE OF STATE SPEED LIMIT IN CERTAIN ZONES; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLAREING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Section V, Increase of state speed limit in certain zones, of Chapter Chapter 53, Traffic, is hereby amended to read as follows: SARATOGA BOULEVARD (S.H. 357) All that portion within the city limits -- 55 MPH -- At all times. Except as follows: From Ayers Street (S.H. 286) to a point 300 feet west of Weber Road (F.M. 43) -- 50 MPH -- At all times. From a point 300 feet west of Weber Road to a point 187 feet east of Staples Street (city limits line) -- 45 MPH -- At all times, except when school zone flashers indicating 30 MPH are displayed from a point 300 feet west of West Shea Parkway to a point 250 feet east of Swansea Drive. SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance, this ordinance to become effective upon such publication. SECTION 4. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the efficient and effective administration of City affairs by amending the City Code as aforementioned, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall 04P.271.01 19138 MICROFILMED take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 31st day of December, 1985.
