HomeMy WebLinkAbout19201 ORD - 02/25/1986AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH A. ORTIZ CONSTRUCTION AND PAVING, INC. FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A 7 -FOOT WIDE SIDEWALK AND BIKEWAY ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF OCEAN DRIVE FROM THE HOLIDAY INN ENTRANCE AT BUFORD STREET TO THE NORTH ACCESS ROAD IN COLE PARK; APPROPRIATING $104,300; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with A. Ortiz Construction and Paving, Inc. for the construction of a 7 -foot wide sidewalk and bikeway along the east side of Ocean Drive from the Holiday Inn Entrance at Buford Street to the North Access Road in Cole Park, all as more fully set forth in plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of A. Ortiz Construction and Paving, Inc. said bid being the lowest and, most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $59,000 from the No. 220 Street Bond Fund and $45,300 from the No. 291 Park Bond Fund for a total appropriation of $104,300, of which $91,936.05 is for the contract award and $12,363.95 is for contingencies, additional engineering, testing and incidental and related expenses applicable to Project Nos. 220-85-15.1 and 291-85-2.1, Ocean Drive Sidewalk - Buford to Cole Park. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 25th day of February, 1986.
