AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH BACKHOE LEASE
SERVICE, INC., FOR THE INSTALLATION OF STORM SEWER RELIEF
LINES IN HAYWARD DRIVE FROM SOUTH STAPLES TO RAY DRIVE AND
AT THE INTERSECTION OF FRIAR TUCK AND KING RICHARD DRIVE IN
THE SHERWOOD SUBDIVISION; APPROPRIATING $40,850; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a
contract with Backhoe Lease Service, Inc. for the installation of storm sewer
relief lines in Hayward Drive from South Staples to Ray
intersection of Friar Tuck and King Richard Drive in the Sherwood Subdivision,
all as more fully set forth in plans and specifications and contract documents
on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof
by reference and according to the bid of Backhoe Lease Service, Inc., said bid
being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $40,850 from the No. 295
Storm Sewer Bond Fund of which $36,215 is for the contract award and $4,635 is
for contingencies, additional engineering, testing and incidental and related
expenses applicable to Project No. 295-82-6.2, Minor Storm Sewer Improvements,
Phase II.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take
immediate action to preserve and protect
public
construction of public improvements, such f nding ofr an bythepislmade and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance
is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this
the 4th day of March, 1986.

or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three

and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
