HomeMy WebLinkAbout19224 ORD - 03/18/1986AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICIALS FOR ALL MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS FOR 1986; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Council of said City deems it advisable to appoint the election officials, for the elections to be held within said City during 1986; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That for the purpose of conducting and holding the elections in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, on the 5th day of April, 1986, and for subsequent municipal elections during 1986, Presiding Judges and Alternate Presiding Judges, respectively, are hereby appointed for each of the Election Precincts of said City, all as indicated on Exhibit "A" attached hereto. Each such Presiding Judge shall appoint not less than two nor more than four qualified election clerks to serve at the election, but one of such clerks shall be the Alternate Presiding Judge. If such a Presiding Judge is unable to serve at the election, his or her Alternate Presiding Judge shall serve as the Presiding Judge. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for efficient and effective administration of City affairs by appointing the abovementioned election officials, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 18th day of March, 1986.
