HomeMy WebLinkAbout19265 ORD - 04/15/1986RESOLUTION TO BE PRESENTED TO THE COASTAL BEND COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS. • WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi City Council appointed an ad hoc Water Advisory Commission in 1984 to investigate and report on the possibility of additional water supply sources for the Nueces River Basin; and WHEREAS, the Water Advisory Commission studied the matter for sixteen months with the assistance of Rauschuber and Associates Engineering Consultants under contract with the City of Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, the Rauschuber report presented various methods of enhancing the water supply for the Coastal Bend Area; and WHEREAS, the Water Advisory Commission presented the results of their findings to the Corpus Christi City Council at a meeting on December 17, 1985; and WHEREAS, on January 21, 1986, the Corpus Christi City Council invited area citizens and leaders to comment on both the Rauschuber and Ad Hoc Commissions' reports; and WHEREAS, the Lake Corpus Christi Reservoir - Choke Canyon Reservoir systems were constructed to provide municipal and industrial water to citizens of the region. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COASTAL BEND COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS RECOMMENDS THE FOLLOWING: (1) The two reservoirs continue to be operated as a regional water supply with the primary purpose of furnishing water to the people in the Coastal Bend area. (2) That the need for recreational facilitiesfor public use be recognized and encouraged. (3) That•the City of Corpus Christi be encouraged to develop an operating plan for the reservoir system consistent with the stated purpose. Duly adopted at a meeting of the Coastal Bend Council of Governments this 21st day of March, 1986.
