AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 8127, COMPENSATION AND CLASSIFICATION
PLAN, BY PROVIDING FOR SALARY INCREASE TO THE POSITION OF
FIRST ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 8127, as amended from time to time,
Compensation and Classification Plan, is hereby amended by providing for a
2 percent salary increase to the position of First Assistant Fire Chief
effective August 1, 1985, andy further increasing the salary range in accordance
with the following schedule:
First Asst.
Fire Chief
FROM
$33,500/$47,200
TO
3% Effective
April 1, 1986
$35,200/$49,700
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for the
efficient and effective administration of City affairs by providing for the
salary increases as abovementioned at the earliest practicable date, such
finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter
rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon
first reading as an emergency measure this the 15th day of April, 1986.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
