HomeMy WebLinkAbout19283 ORD - 04/29/1986AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT TAXES BECOMING DELINQUENT IN 1986 AND THEREAFTER SHALL INCUR AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF FIFTEEN PERCENT (15%) OF THE AMOUNT OF TAXES, PENALTY AND INTEREST DUE IN ORDER SECTION 33.07,COSTSO DEFRAY ,PROPERTYTAX X CODEF ECLTIONS SU THISADDITIONAPTO PENALTY SHALL NOT INCUR UNTIL JULY 1 OF THE YEAR IN WHICH THEY BECOME DELINQUENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi, for and on behalf of itself and the Corpus Christi Independent School District and Corpus Christi Junior College District has contracted with an attorney pursuant to the provisions of Section 6.30, Texas Property Tax Code; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: tc SECTION 1. That ad valorem taxes becoming delinquent during 1986 and thereafter shall incur an additional penalty of fifteen percent (15%) of the amount of taxes, penalty and interest due, in order to defray costs of collections pursuant to Section 33.07 Texas Property Tax Code. This additional penalty shall not incur until July 1 of the year in which they become delinquent. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 29th day of April, 1986.
