AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH CLAUDE CHAPMAN
CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. FOR THE INSTALLATION OF SANITARY
SEWER LINES TO SERVE THE NOTTARB PLACE SUBDIVISION AND ALSO
PROVIDE A PERMANENT GRAVITY SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM FOR
PRESENTLY UNDEVELOPED PROPERTY IN THE AREA BOUNDED BY WEBER
ROAD, SARATOGA BOULEVARD, AND A PORTION OF CABANISS FIELD;
APPROPRIATING $837,177.13; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a
contract with Claude Chapman Construction Co., Inc. for the installation of
sanitary sewer lines to serve the Nottarb Place Subdivision and also provide a
permanent gravity sanitary sewer system for presently undeveloped property in
the area bounded by Weber Road, Saratoga Boulevard, and a portion of Cabaniss
Field, all as more fully set forth in plans and specifications and contract
documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a
part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Claude Chapman Construction
Co., Inc. said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus
Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $837,177.13 from the
No. 250 Sanitary Sewer Bond Fund of which $759,006 is for the contract award and
$78,171.13 is for contingencies, additional engineering, testing and incidental
and related expenses applicable to Project No. 250-82-11.3, Nottarb Place
Sanitary Sewer Improvements.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take
immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the
construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance
is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this
the 13th day of May, 1986.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
