HomeMy WebLinkAbout19350 ORD - 06/10/1986AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION, DIVISION 5, MUSEUM ADVISORY BOARD, SECTION 2-90, CREATED; MEMBERSHIP; fiElITITT FILLING VACANCIES, SECTION 2-91, RULES OF PROCEDURE; OFFICERS; COMPENSATION, AND SECTION 2-92, MEETINGS; FUNCTION; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Chapter 2, Administration, Division 5, Museum Advisory Board, Section 2-90, Created; membership; terms; filling vacancies the City Code, Section 2-91, Rules of Procedure; officers; compensation, and Section 2-92, Meetings; function, are hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 2-90. Created; membership; terms; filling vacancies. There is hereby created the Corpus Christi Museum Advisory Board which shall consist of twelve (12) members. The board members shall be appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the city council. Their terms shall be staggered, to run for a full three (3) years. Upon the occurrence of any vacancy, it shall be filled for the unexpired term. 05P.171.01 The board members shall be selected as follows: One member shall be nominated by the board of trustees of the Corpus Christ Independent School District; three (3) members shall be nominated by the Friends of the Museum; two (2) members shall be nominated ,by the Museum Auxiliary; and six (6) members shall be nominated by the mayor who shall seek suggestions for nominations from the Friends of the Museum, the Museum Auxiliary, the Museum Advisory Board, and from the board of trustees of other public school districts in Corpus Christi. Ex Officio members shall include the City Manager and the Superintendent of the Corpus Christi Independent School District or their designated representative. The Mayor shall have the authority to appoint such individuals as the mayor deems to the best interest of the Museum as Advisory Members who shall serve without pay and without vote. The term of each advisory member shall be three (3) years. 19350 MICROFILMED Sec. 2-91. Rules of procedure; officers; compensation. The Board shall adopt its own rules of procedure for the conduct of its business, shall elect its own chairman and such other officers as the board may determine are necessary. The regular election of the chairman and other officers shall be in October of each year. All board members shall serve without compensation. Sec. 2-92. Meetings; function. The board shall hold regular meetings at least once each month and such special meetings as may be called by the chairman with notice to all members. The Advisory Board shall serve as an advisor to the Museum Department and to the City Council in matters of support and development of the Museum. The board may adopt comprehensive policies relating to the: a) Management of collections; b) Acquisitions for the collections; c) Disposition and the deacquisition of objects in and for the collection; d) Use of Museum facilities. When adopted by the Advisory Board and approved by the City Manager, the Director of the Museum shall implement such polices. SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3.
