HomeMy WebLinkAbout19355 ORD - 06/17/19860 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 18675 BY AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AMENDED GRANT AND LOAN AGREEMENT WITH THE NUECES COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS TO PROVIDE FOR AIR CONDITIONERS, SCREEN DOORS, PEEP HOLES, AND STORM SHUTTERS FOR THE PALACIO RESIDENTIAL SECTION 202 HOUSING PROJECT IN LIEU OF PAVING THE FIRE LANE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 18675 is hereby amended by authorizing the City Manager to execute an Amended Grant and Loan Agreement with the Nueces County Senior Citizens to provide for air conditioners, screen doors, peep holes, and storm shutters for the Palacio Residential Section 202 Housing Project in lieu of paving the fire lane, all as more fully set forth in the Amended Grant and Loan Agreement, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A". SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need of executing the abovementioned Amended Grant and Loan Agreement at the earliest practicable date, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 17th day of June, 1986. ATTEST: a -99t -City Secr APPROVED: 17 DAY OF JUNE, 1986 HAL GEORGE, CITY ATTORNEY By ASs- tant City Att. ney 06P.162.01 MAYOR THE CIT;1'114 US CHRISTI, TEXAS 19355 MICROFILMED THE STATE OF TEXAS § COUNTY OF NUECES § KNOW ALL BY THESE PRESENTS: AMENDMENT TO GRANT AND LOAN AGREEMENT The City of Corpus Christi, Texas, a municipal corporation, utilizing its Community Development Block Grant Fund ("City"), and the Nueces County, Senior Citizens, Inc., a non-profit corporation ("Senior Citizens") hereby agree to amend the previous Grant and Loan Agreement entered into by them on March 8, 1985, approved by Ordinance No. 18675, as provided herein: WHEREAS, the improvements in the fire lane provided for in the original agreement were made with funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development because of federal priorities; and WHEREAS, the $36,674 granted in the original agreement for paving of the fire lane has not been utilized; and WHEREAS, because of the federal priorities, improvements involving air conditioning, screen doors, peep holes, and storm shutters have not been made; City and Senior Citizens, therefore, agree as follows: 1. The $36,674 originally granted for the exclusive purpose of paving the fire lane may be utilized by Senior Citizens for the following purposes with priorities in the order enumerated: a Acquiring and installing window air conditioning units in the residential housing units (estimated cost approximately $25,000). b. Acquisition and installation of screen doors in the dwelling units (estimated approximate cost of $4,300). c. Installation of peep holes in outside doors (estimated approximate cost of $550). d. Acquisition and installation of storm shutters (estimated approximate cost of $7,000). 2. Said grant funds shall be used for no other purposes than those expressly listed above, and Senior Citizens agrees to provide to City prior to disbursement of any such funds a statement detailing the actual costs expended by Senior Citizens in making said improvements. 06P.162.01 3. This agreement shall be effective upon execution by the undersigned.
