AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH MEHNE
CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR REPLACEMENT OF MAJOR ROOF SECTIONS
AND AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING IMPROVEMENTS AT BEN GARZA
GYM AND EXPANSION OF MEADOW PARK RECREATION CENTER TO
ACCOMMODATE THE MEADOW PARK HEALTH CLINIC; APPROPRIATING
$185,964.59; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a
contract with Mehne Construction, Inc. for replacement of major roof sections
and air conditioning and heating improvements at Ben Garza Gym and expansion of
Meadow Park Recreation Center to accommodate the Meadow Park Health Clinic, all
as more fully set forth in plans and specifications and contract documents on
file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by
reference and according to the bid of Mehne Construction, Inc. said bid being
the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $20,466.76 from the
162-152-807.06, 8th Year Community Development Block Grant, $12,000.30 from the
162-152-807.07, 9th year Community Development Block Grant and authorizing
$153,497.53 from the 162-152-807.09, llth Year Community Development Block Grant
for a total of $185,964.59 of which $171,399.00 is for the contract award and
$14and incidental and
related expenses appl565.59 is for iccablento Project al e162-152 contingencies7.9, nGa Garza Gym/Meadow Park
Recreation Center Improvements.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take
immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the
construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance
is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this
the 8th day of July, 1986.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule

and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
