AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CORPUS CHRISTI ZONING
ORDINANCE, AS AMENDED, NO. 6106, ADOPTED THE 27TH DAY
OF AUGUST, 1937, BY INCREASING THE FINE FOR THE
VIOLATION THEREOF TO $1,000; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE;
AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, by acts 1985, the 69th Legislature amended Article 1011,
V.T.C.S., relating to powers of the City Council whereby the fine or penalty for
the violation of certain Police Regulations may be increased; and
WHEREAS, the legislature, in amending such statute has authorized a
fine or penalty not to exceed One Thousand Dollars ($1,000) for violation of all
such rules, ordinances and police regulations that govern fire safety, zoning,
or public health and sanitation, including dumping of refuse.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas:
SECTION 1. That Section 35-3, Article 35, entitled Enforcement,
Violation and Penalties of Ordinance No. 6106, the Zoning Ordinance of the City
of Corpus Christi, as amended, is hereby amended by deletion of the phrase "One
Hundred Dollars ($100)" and the substitution of the phrase "One Thousand Dollars
($1,000)", so that said Section 35-3 shall thereafter read as follows:
"Section 35-3. Any person or corporation who shall violate
any of the provisions of the Ordinance or fail to comply
therewith or with any of the requirements thereof or who
shall build or alter any building in violation of any
detailed statement or plan submitted and approved hereunder
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be liable to a
fine of not more than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000), and
each day such violation shall be permitted to exist shall
constitute a separate offense. The owner or owners of any
building or premises, or part thereof, where anything in
violation of this Ordinance shall be placed, or shall exist,
and any architect, builder, contractor, agent, person or
corporation employed in connection therewith and who have
assisted in the commission of any such violation shall be
guilty of a separate offense and upon conviction thereof
shall be fined as hereinbefore provided."
SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or
unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it
shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word
or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City
Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or
provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.

publication of the City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption stating in
substance the purpose of the ordinance, this ordinance to become effective upon
such publication.
