AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH PROGRESSIVE
STRUCTURES, INC., FOR INSTALLATION OF MODULAR PLAY UNITS,
COVERED PICNIC UNITS, BARBEQUE GRILLS, BENCHES, FITNESS
COURSES, LIGHTING AND CONSTRUCTION OF GAZEBOS AND MULTI-
PURPOSE COURTS AND FOR LANDSCAPING FOR CASTLE, MIDDLECOFF,
WOODLAND AND WOOLDRIDGE PARKS; APPROPRIATING $294,000; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute
a contract with Progressive Structures,Inc., for landscaping, for installa-
tion of modular play units, covered picnic units, barbeque grills, benches,
fitness courses, lighting and construction of gazebos and multipurpose
courts for Castle, Middlecoff, Woodland and Wooldridge Parks, all as more
fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on
file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part
hereof by reference and according to the bid of Progressive Structures, Inc.,
said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $126,433 from the
No. 291 Park Bond Fund and $167,567 from the No. 111 Park Trust Fund for
a total of $294,000.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to
take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting
the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is
made and declared requiring the suspension of the Charter rule as to con-
sideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meet-
ings so that this ordinance is passed and s X11 take effect upon first
reading as an emergency measure this the'/q*_day of October, 1986.
