COMMENDING PATTY P. MUELLER FOR HER DEDICATED SERVICE AS A
MEMBER OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Patty P. Mueller first became associated with the Corpus
Christi Library System when she became a member of Friends of the Library in
1965, serving as President of that organization and as ex -officio member of the
La Retama Library Board from 1973 through 1975; and
WHEREAS, on January 14, 1976, Patty P. Mueller was appointed to the La
Retama Library Board and continued to generously give of her time, talent, and
expertise for over 20 years to effect the vast improvement of the library system
of the City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure on the Library Board, a new Northwest
Branch Library was constructed to serve the citizens in that area; and
WHEREAS, during the years 1978 to 1983, when Mrs. Mueller was Chairman
of the Library Board, plans were initiated to construct a new central library to
provide a first-class facility for use by the citizens of this area; and
WHEREAS, the dream of an outstanding library has now become a
reality --a feat that was accomplished primarily due to the unstinting efforts of
the Library Board Members under the leadership of Mrs. Mueller;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Patty P. Mueller be commended for her devoted service on
the Corpus Christi Public Library Board and urge that she accept the gratitude
of the City Council and all of the citizens of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the desire of
the Council to express its support and intent at the earliest practicable date,
such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the
Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at
three regular meetings so that this resolution is passed and shall take effect
upon first reading as an emergency measure this theij7N day of DECf/01,3ER,

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
