COMMENDING KCCT RADIO STATION- IN CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, FOR THEIR
OUTSTANDING EFFORTS IN COORDINATING AND SPONSORING A BENEFIT DANCE,
"KCCT CONJUNTO CANONASO", TO HELP THE COMMUNITY FUNDING OF OPERATION
HEAT HELP, THE CITY'S GAS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, KCCT RADIO organized a benefit dance to raise funds to help the
City's gas assistance program, Operation Heat Help, which helps the poverty
level elderly and single heads of households with the natural gas portion of
their utility bill;
WHEREAS, KCCT RADIO secured three groups to perform, Los Dos Gilbertos,
Flaco Jimenez, and Bernardo y Sus Compadres; and
WHEREAS, KCCT RADIO assisted in securing the total proceeds of $4,025 from
ticket sales which was deposited in the Operation Heat Help account;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
Section 1. KCCT RADIO, Manuel Davila, Jr., General Manager, and Sales
Manager Ignacio "Nacho" Garcia be commended for their noteworthy project and
urge that they accept the gratitude of the City Council and all citizens of
Corpus Christi.
Section 2. That upon written request of the Mayor, or five Council
Members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the desire of
the Council to express its support and gratitude at the earliest practicable
date, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of
the Charter Rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions
at three regular meetings so that this resolution is passed and shall take
effectupon rst reading as an emergency measure this the JACO day of
, 1981.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
