HomeMy WebLinkAbout19627 ORD - 01/22/1987TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $7,750 FROM THE NO. 295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND FOR CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 APPLICABLE TO THE BALDWIN FARMS DRAINAGE OUTFALL WATERLINE ADJUSTMENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated $7,750 from the No. 295 Storm Sewer Bond Fund for Change Order No. 1 which provides for the addition of 42" diameter internal test plugs and 24" diameter access manholes to two end fittings of concrete steel cylinder pipe, and for hydrotesting of the system applicable to Project No. 511-86-9.1, Baldwin Farms Drainage Outfall Waterline Adjustment. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to appropriate the abovementioned funds at the earliest practicable date, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall to e effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the '&41 day of 19f7 . Cut out test plugs after hydrotesting and mortar test plug ring area. ADD DEDUCT $7,750 Why was this change necessary? (If left off the plans and specifications, explain why. Contractor based bid on testing against the gate valves. Other cities and water agencies s permit testing against valves, the City of Corpus Christi does not. The plans and specs did not detail what the test fittings should look like since bidding was open to different kinds of pipe. How can similar changes be avoided in the future? By selecting one particular pipe, i.e., ductile iron, welded pipe, or concrete steel cylinder pipe.
