HomeMy WebLinkAbout19711 ORD - 04/20/1987AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE RUNOFF ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING THE MAYOR AND TWO COUNCIL MEMBERS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI ON THE 18TH DAY OF APRIL 1987; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, heretofore on the 6th day of April 1987, a runoff election was called by Ordinance No. 19694, adopted by the Mayor and City Council, said runoff election to be held on the 18th day of April 1987; and WHEREAS, notice of said election was given as required by law and as directed in said ordinance, as is shown by affidavit properly filed in the office of the City Secretary; and WHEREAS, said election was duly held on the 18th day of April 1987, in conformity with the election laws of the State of Texas, and the results of said election have been certified and returned by the judges and clerks thereof; and WHEREAS, this Council has today held on the 18th day of April 1987; and WHEREAS the Council finds that respects lawfully held, and that the City results to the Council are correct; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: canvassed the returns of said election the said runoff election was in all Secretary's tally and certification of BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SECTION 1. That the tally of votes cast in the runoff election held on the 18th day of April 1987 made and certified to by the City Secretary of the City of Corpus Christi, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, be and the same is hereby adopted as the official tally of the votes cast at said election, and that said tally be filed and recorded in the official records of the City of Corpus Christi as the official canvass of said election. SECTION 2. That the results of such canvass are declared to be: That the following were elected: MAYOR: Betty N.
