REQUESTING THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC
TRANSPORTATION TO TERMINATE THE CONSTRJJCTION CONTRACT WITH
HELDENFELS BROTHERS, INC. PROVIDING FOR BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
ON KINGSBURY STREET AT TURKEY CREEK; APPROPRIATING $8,400;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation is hereby requested to terminate the construction contract with
Heldenfels Brothers, Inc. providing for bridge replacement on Kingsbury Street
at Turkey Creek.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $8,400 from the No. 220
Street Bond Fund to supplement $13,340 previously appropriated by passage of
Ordinance No. 18991 dated August 27, 1985, and Ordinance No. 19545, dated
November 18, 1986, for a total of $21,740 providing for reimbursement to the
State for field changes related to the cancellation of the construction contract
applicable to Project No. 220-85-44-7.1, Kingsbury Street Bridge.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for
efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of an
emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to
consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular
meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shal take effect upon first
reading as an emergency measure this the,2(4* day of , 1937 .

or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
