AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT
BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND THE CONSULTANT FIRMS
OF ESPEY, HUSTON & ASSOCIATES, INC. TOGETHER WITH BECHTOL,
HOFFPAUIR AND EHRLER, INC. FOR A MASTER PLAN STUDY OF THE
JOHN F. KENNEDY CAUSEWAY RECREATIONAL AREA; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute an
amendment to the contract between the City of Corpus Christi and the consultant
firms of Espey, Huston & Associates, Inc. together with Bechtol, Hoffpauir and
Ehrler, Inc. for a Master Plan Study of the John F. Kennedy Causeway
Recreational Area, all as more fully set forth in the amendment, a substantial
copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A."
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need of
executing the abovementioned amendment at the earliest practicable date, such
finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter
rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at three regular meetings so
that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an
emergency measure this the 4g -6l day of , 19V

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.

AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
AND THE CONSULTANT FIRMS OF ESPEY, HUSTON & ASSOCIATES, INC.
TOGETHER WITH BECHTOL, HOFFPAUIR AND EHRLER, INC.
STATE OF TEXAS
KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:
COUNTY OF NUECES
Whereas, on April 2, 1987, pursuant to Ordinance No. 19683, the City of
Corpus Christi and the consultant firms of Espey, Huston & Associates, Inc.
together with Bechtol, Hoffpauir and Ehrler, Inc. entered into a contract to
provide a Master Plan Study of the John F. Kennedy Causeway Recreational Area;
and
Whereas, it was intended that said contract provide for the administration
of said contract to be performed jointly by the City of Corpus Christi and the
State of Texas General Land Office; and
Whereas, it is the desire of the parties to now correct such oversight by
the following amendment.
NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises, it is hereby agreed:
(1) that the second sentence of the second paragraph be deleted and the
following sentence be substituted therefor so as to read as follows:
"The City shall pay consultants Sixty-five Thousand Dollars ($65,000)
upon approval of the Master Plan by the City of Corpus Christi and the
State of Texas General Land Office."
(2) that said contract as heretofore amended is hereby ratified and
approved by both parties by their signatures below.
