HomeMy WebLinkAbout19791 ORD - 06/09/1987TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 17418 PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE 29TH DAY OF DECEMBER 1982 AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE 19479 PASSED AND APPROVED ON 16TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER 1986, SO AS TO CHANGE THE COMPOSITION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE REINVESTMENT ZONE NO. 1 TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: THREE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL CONSISTING OF THE MAYOR, THE COUNCIL MEMBER FROM THE DISTRICT IN WHICH THE REINVESTMENT ZONE LIES (DISTRICT 2), AND ONE OTHER COUNCIL MEMBER CHOSEN BY THE CITY COUNCIL; AND ONE MEMBER FROM EACH OF THE FOLLOWING ENTITIES: NUECES COUNTY COMMISSIONER'S COURT, CORPUS CHRISTI INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND CORPUS CHRISTI JUNIOR COLLEGE DISTRICT (DEL MAR) FOR A TOTAL OF SIX MEMBERS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 17418 passed and approved by the City Council on the 29th day of December 1982 as amended by Ordinance 19479 passed and approved on the 16th day of September 1986, is hereby amended so as to change the composition of the Board of Directors of the Reinvestment Zone No. 1 to include the following: three members of the City Council consisting of the Mayor, the Council member from the district in which the Reinvestment Zone lies (District 2), and one other Council member chosen by the City Council; and one member from each of the following entities: Nueces County Commissioner's Court, Corpus Christi Independent School District, and Corpus Christi Junior College District (Del Mar) for a total of six members. SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance, this ordinance to become effective upon such publication. SECTION 4. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at three regular meetings so that this 05P.159.01 .9791MICROFILMED ordinance is passed and shall to effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 44A day of , 19 87 .
