AMENDING SECTION 105.2 OF THE MECHANICAL CODE ADOPTED BY
ORDINANCE NO. 19288 TO PROVIDE FOR THE FILING OF A
CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE AND SUSPENSION OF PERMITS WITHOUT
INSURANCE COVERAGE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; AND PROVIDING
FOR PUBLICATION.
`BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 105.2 of the Mechanical Code, Ordinance
No. 19288, approved by the City Council on April 29, 1986, is hereby amended by
designating the existing paragraph as "(a)" and adding a new paragraph
designated as "(b)" to hereafter read as follows:
"(b) The license holder shall furnish the Building
Inspection Department with a certificate of insurance
evidencing the required insurance coverage, in
accordance with the requirements of Section 75.6,
Article 8861, V.T.C.S., as amended. The insurance
coverage shall include a provision that in the event
such coverage is cancelled or reduced the insurance
carrier shall notify the City of Corpus Christi --
Building Inspection Department at least ten (10) days
prior to such cancellation or reduction in coverage. A
permit holder's permit shall be suspended during any
period in which the permit holder fails to maintain in
effect the required insurance coverage."
SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or
unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it
shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word
or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City
Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or
provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption stating in
substance the purpose of the ordinance, this ordinance to become effective upon
such publication.
