HomeMy WebLinkAbout20100 RES - 12/03/19874 THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF NUECES CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI . on this the 3rd day of December, 1987, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas convened in Special Meeting, with the following members of said Council present, to -wit: Betty Turner, Mayor, (vacancy) David Berlanga, Sr., Leo Guerrero, Linda Strong, Councilmembers, Bill Pruet, Cliff Moss, Mary Rhodes, Mary Pat Slavik, Craig A. McDowell, City Manager, Hal George, City Attorney, Debra J. Andrews, Director of Finance, Armando Chapa, City Secretary, with the following absent: Leo Guerrero and Mary Pat" Slavik constituting a quorum, 'at which time the following among other business was transacted: City Manager presented for the consideration of the Council a resolution. The resolution was read by the City Secretary. Councilmember Linda Strong moved that the resolu- tion be adopted. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Bill Pruet vote: . The motion was carried by the following AYES: All present voted Aye. NAYS: None. The Mayor announced that the resolution had been adopted. The resolution is as follows: 20100 RESOLUTION CALLING CERTAIN BONDS FOR REDEMPTION PRIOR TO SCHEDULED MATURITIES THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF NUECES CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi has outstanding its City of Corpus Christi, Texas General Improvement and Refunding Bonds, Series 1985-A (the "Refunded Bonds"); and WHEREAS, concurrently herewith certain of the Refunded Bonds (as described in the Ordinance authorizing the issu- ance of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas General Improve- ment and Refunding Bonds, Series 1987) are being refunded; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that certain of such Refunded Bonds shall be called for redemption prior to their stated maturities, such bonds being as follows, to -wit: Bonds maturing on November 1 of each of the years 1996 through 1998, inclusive, aggregating $16,670,000 in principal amount; and WHEREAS, it is in order for the City Council to author- ize the Paying Agent/Registrar for such bonds to mail notice of redemption for calling such bonds to be redeemed prior to their scheduled maturities; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: 1. That the Paying Agent/Registrar for the Refunded Bonds is hereby directed to cause to be mailed, in the manner required by the ordinance authorizing the issuance of the Refunded Bonds, a written notice of redemption substan- tially'in the form attached to this resolution, and such bonds as described in such notice shall be redeemed on November 1, 1995 for the principal amount thereof. City Attorney, Cityof Corpus Christi, Texas NOTICE OF REDEMPTION CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS GENERAL IMPROVEMENT AND REFUNDING BONDS, SERIES 1985-A (Name and address of registered owner) THE REGISTRATION BOOKS for said Bonds show that you are the registered owner of Bond No. , aggregating $ in principal amount, scheduled to mature November 1, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Corpus Christi, Texas has called for redemption on the date shown below the outstanding Bonds of the City described as follows: City of Corpus Christi, Texas General Improvement and Refunding Bonds, Series 1985-A, dated October 15, 1985, Bonds maturing on November 1 of each of the years 1996 through 1998, both inclusive, aggregating $16,670,000; redemption date: November 1, 1995 NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that due and proper arrange- ments have been made for providing First City Bank of Corpus Christi, Corpus Christi, Texas, the place of payment of said Bonds called for redemption, with funds sufficient to pay the principal amount of said Bonds and the interest thereon to the redemption date. In the event said Bonds, or any of them, are not presented for payment by the date fixed for their redemption, they shall not thereafter bear interest. THIS NOTICE is issued and given pursuant to the redemp- tion provisions set forth in the ordinance authorizing the issuance of said Bonds, in accordance with the recitals and provisions of said Bonds and pursuant to authority of an ordinance passed by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi on the 3rd day of December, 1987.
