HomeMy WebLinkAbout020162 RES - 01/12/1988A RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A TEXAS EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANTS PROGRAM APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT AS THE AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE IN ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANTS PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi desires to develop a viable urban community, including the expansion of the quantity and improvement of the quality of emergency shelters for the homeless; and WHEREAS, certain conditions exist which represent a threat to the health and safety of the homeless; and WHEREAS, it is necessary and in the best interests of the City of Corpus Christi to apply for funding under the 1988 Texas Emergency Shelter Grants Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: 1. That a Texas Emergency Shelter Grants Program application is hereby authorized to be filed on behalf of the City with the Texas Department of Community Affairs. 2. That the City's application be placed in competition for funding under the Emergency Shelter Grants Fund. 3. That the application be for $90,850.00 of grant funds to carry out the rehabilitation of two facilities located at 1919 and 1925 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi, Texas, to be known as Rustic House. 4. That the City Council directs and designates the City Manager as the Authorized Representative to act in all matters in connection with this application and the City's participation in the Texas Emergency Shelter Grants Program. 5. That it further be stated that Metro Ministries is committing to match the grant amount of S90,850.00 through the purchase, staffing and provision of food services for the Rustic House rehabilitation project.
