APPROPRIATING $2.7 MILLION FROM THE AQUARIUM BOND FUND.
WHEREAS, on April 5, 1986, voters authorized the issuance of $4 million
aquarium bond funds, which were to be used for land acquisition for public
parking, parking improvements, utility relocations, drainage and bulkheading;
and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1987, the City Council adopted ordinance no. 19619
approving an agreement with the Texas State Aquarium Association providing for
the use of the aquarium bond funds; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 19619 also appropriated $1.3 million from the
Aquarium Bond Fund for land acquisition and reimbursement of costs of design of
bulkhead and related improvements on public property in the waterfront area to
provide waterfront protection and public access adjacent to the Association's
property; and
WHEREAS, the plans and specifications for the construction of the bulkhead
and related improvements have been completed and are ready to be advertised for
bids for construction; and
WHEREAS, the Association has retained the services of design consultants for
the development of construction plans and specifications for the remaining
public improvements.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas:
SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated $2.7 million from the Aquarium
Bond Fund #240 for the Texas State Aquarium Project.
