HomeMy WebLinkAbout020198 ORD - 02/09/1988AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND ABANDONING THE PUBLIC RIGHTS-OF-WAY OF SEAGULL BOULEVARD FROM GULDEN STREET TO SANDBAR AVENUE, BRYAN STREET FROM TIMON BOULEVARD TO GULFBREEZE BOULEVARD, GULFBREEZE BOULEVARD FROM SANDBAR AVENUE TO BRYAN STREET, AND A PORTION OF TIMON BOULEVARD FROM HULL STREET SOUTHWARD; CLOSING AND ABANDONING THE 20 -FOOT WIDE PUBLIC ALLEYS IN BLOCKS 71, 383, 389, AND 411, BROOKLYN ADDITION; CLOSING AND ABANDONING THE 60 -FOOT WIDE UTILITY EASEMENT (FORMERLY SANDBAR AVENUE) FROM SEAGULL BOULEVARD TO TIMON BOULEVARD AND THE 30 -FOOT WIDE UTILITY EASEMENT (FORMERLY THE NORTH ONE HALF OF WOODROW STREET) FROM TIMON BOULEVARD TO GULFBREEZE BOULEVARD; PROVIDING FOR REPLATTING; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, notice of the time and place for holding a hearing concerning the closing of the public rights-of-way of Seagull Boulevard from Gulden Street to Sandbar Avenue, Bryan Street from Timon Boulevard to Gulfbreeze Boulevard, Gulfbreeze Boulevard from Sandbar Avenue to Bryan Street, and a portion of Timon Boulevard from Hull Street southward; the 20 -foot wide public alleys in Blocks 71, 383, 389, and 411, Brooklyn Addition; and the 60 -foot wide utility easement (formerly Sandbar Avenue) from Seagull Boulevard to Timon Boulevard and the 30 -foot wide utility easement (formerly the north one half of Woodrow Street) from Timon Boulevard to Gulfbreeze Boulevard, was given by publication and mailed to the last known addresses of the owners of property abutting the public way and within 450 feet of the area proposed to be closed, and thereafter, pursuant to said notice, public hearing was held at a meeting of the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi on January 5, 1988, in accordance with the provisions of the City Charter; and WHEREAS, it was determined by the City Council after such hearing that the aforesaid portions of right-of-way, proposed to be closed, are not needed now, nor will they be within the foreseeable future needed as public rights-of-way, and that the same should revert to the abutting property owners, subject to certain specified conditions: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby closed and abandoned the public rights-of-way of Seagull Boulevard from Gulden Street to Sandbar Avenue, Bryan Street from Timon Boulevard to Gulfbreeze Boulevard, Gulfbreeze Boulevard from Sandbar Avenue to Bryan Street, and a portion of Timon Boulevard from Hull Street southward; the 20 -foot wide public alleys in Blocks 71, 383, 389, and 411, Brooklyn Addition; and the 60 -foot wide utility easement (formerly Sandbar Avenue) from Seagull Boulevard to Timon Boulevard and the 30 -foot wide utility easement (formerly the north one half of Woodrow Street) from Timon Boulevard to Gulfbreeze Boulevard, aTl as shown on a plat of Brooklyn Addition in Volume A, Pages 30-32, Map Records, Nueces County, Texas, providing for replatting. 205RP071.ord 20198 MICROFILMED Corpus Christi, Texas q+%l day of TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
