AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH KING
CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC. AND ISLES ENGINEERING AND
CONSTRUCTION, INC. A JOINT VENTURE, FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
A FIVE LANE ROADWAY ALONG WHITECAP BOULEVARD FROM PADRE
ISLAND DRIVE TO WINDWARD DRIVE, A TWO LANE ACCESS ROAD FROM
WINDWARD DRIVE TO THE BEACH, AND A FIVE LANE ROADWAY ALONG
WINDWARD DRIVE BETWEEN THE OLD AND NEW WHITECAP BOULEVARD
ALIGNMENTS; APPROPRIATING $929,835.51.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a
contract with King Construction Company, Inc. and Isles Engineering and
Construction, Inc., a Joint Venture, for the construction of a five lane roadway
along Whitecap Boulevard from Padre Island Drive to Windward Drive, a two lane
access road from Windward Drive to the beach, and a five lane roadway along
Windward Drive between the old and new Whitecap Boulevard alignments, all as
more fully set forth in plans and specifications and contract documents on file
in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by
reference and according to the bid of King Construction Company, Inc. and Isles
Engineering and Construction, Inc. a Joint Venture, said bid being the lowest
and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $785,045.31 from the
No. 561 Street Bond Fund applicable to Project No. 561-86-22.1, Whitecap
Boulevard, and $104,453.70 from the No. 205 Water Bond Fund applicable to
Project No. 205-87-44-2.10 Whitecap Boulevard Waterline Improvements; and
authorizing $40,336.50 from the No. 109-363-543.74, Code 437, Wastewater Reserve
Appropriation (Transfer to Other Funds), for a total of $929,835.51 of which
$857,770.90 is for the contract award and $72,064.61 is for additional
engineering, contingencies, testing, printing, and legal advertising.
