AMENDING THE APPOINTMENTS TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CORPUS CHRISTI REGIONAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY.
WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi Regional Transit Authority was organized
pursuant to the provisions of Article 1118x, Vernon's Annotated Texas Statutes,
and certain appointments to the Board of Directors were made by the City of
Corpus Christi for 4 -year terms; and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the Texas Attorney General, 4 -year terms
for Board members of the Corpus Christi Regional Transit Authority are in
conflict with provisions of the Texas Constitution; and
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi desires to amend its appointments
to comply with the 2 -year limitation as stated in the Texas Constitution,
Article XVI, Section 30;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the terms of office of any of the members of the
Corpus Christi Regional Transit Authority appointed by the City of Corpus
Christi are hereby amended to be 2 -year terms. All appointments by the City of
Corpus Christi are hereby amended to expire two years from the expiration of the
previous term of office.
SECTION 2. Except as amended herein, the appointments to the Board of
Directors of the Corpus Christi Regional Transit Authority by the City of Corpus
Christi are hereby ratified and confirmed as amended to 2 -year terms and shall
remain in full force and effect, subject to all applicable laws governing same.
