CONGRATULATING SENATOR TRUAN FOR 20 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE
PEOPLE OF SOUTH TEXAS, AND DECLARING WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12,
1988, AS "STATE SENATOR CARLOS TRUAN DAY."
WHEREAS, it is essential that cities and counties be effectively
represented in the Texas Legislature, in order to serve their citizens, and
provide the economic and human development that is essential to their future;
and
WHEREAS, Senator Carlos Truan, having made Corpus Christi his home has
effectively represented the City of Corpus Christi and its legislative concerns
as part of his overall legislative program; and
WHEREAS, 1988 marks the 20th anniversary of public service by Senator
Carlos F. Truan, having served the people of South Texas eight years in the
Texas House of Representatives and twelve years in the Texas Senate;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi wishes to go on record as
congratulating State Senator Carlos F. Truan for 20 years of excellent service
to the people of South Texas and the Citizens of Corpus Christi and declares
Wednesday, October 12, 1988, as "State Senator Carlos Truan Day."
