IN SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION RELATING TO
MAIL BALLOT ELECTIONS, HOUSE BILL 58
WHEREAS, a small percentage of qualified voters participate in the
electoral process; and
WHEREAS, the requirement that a vote be cast in person is a major
contributing factor in low voter participation; and
WHEREAS, increased voter participation in noncandidate elections at a
reduced cost to the political subdivision conducting elections is in the public
interest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, endorses and supports
House Bill 58 pertaining to noncandidate mail ballot elections.
