RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE TO VOTE
AGAINST HOUSE BILL 100.
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi has a comprehensive animal control
ordinance adequately regulating the keeping and licensing of animals within its
city limits in accordance with the needs of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, HB 100 introduced in the 71st Legislature would apparently
impose bureaucratic procedures on the City for handling release of animals for
adoption which are more cumbersome than and less suited to local conditions than
those in the present ordinance; and
WHEREAS, HB 100 would apparently prevent the City from recovering its
administrative costs associated with its animal control operations; and
WHEREAS, HB 100 would apparently hamper effective animal control
procedures in the City of Corpus Christi;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Texas Legislature be respectfully urged not to
pass House Bill 100.
