IN SUPPORT OF HJR 2 PERTAINING TO STATE FUNDING FOR NEW
LEGISLATIVE MANDATES ON LOCAL GOVERNMENTS
WHEREAS, during each legislative session statutes are enacted that require
local governments to establish, expand, or modify activities in a manner which
mandates the expenditure of additional revenue by the political subdivision that
would impose increased fiscal burdens on local governments; and
WHEREAS, local governments are facing increasing demands from numerous
sources on their limited revenues, as is the State; and
WHEREAS, the State Legislature should consider the budgetary constraints
faced by local governments before enacting statues which mandate increased local
costs.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
Section 1. The City of Corpus Christi respectfully, strongly, and urgently
requests the 71st Texas Legislature enact House Joint Resolution 2.
