SUPPORTING THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC
TRANSPORTATION'S PLANNED IMPROVEMENTS TO THE PARK ROAD 22
AND 53 INTERSECTION AND COMMITTING TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL
REQUIRED RIGHT-OF-WAY AND RELOCATION OF UTILITIES.
WHEREAS, in November 1988 the State Highway Commission approved a
10 year project development plan for highway improvements including a project to
build an overpass at the Park Road 22 and 53 intersection; and
WHEREAS, the initial phase of this project involves construction of
additional lanes to accommodate the heavy turning movements at the intersection;
and
WHEREAS, the City's participation to support this phase is minor
right-of-way acquisition at the intersection and utility improvements and
relocations along the east side of Park Road 22 from Park Road 53 to Packery
Channel Park; and
WHEREAS, the necessary right-of-way acquisition and utility
relocations must be completed by the projected beginning date of these
improvements which is late in 1991;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council hereby expresses its support of the
the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation's planned
improvements to the Park Road 22 and 53 intersection and hereby commits to
provide additional required right-of-way and relocation of utilities.
