HomeMy WebLinkAbout020632 RES - 03/21/1989A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF HOUSE BILL 2883 RELATING TO PURPOSES FOR WHICH REVENUE FROM A MUNICIPAL HOTEL TAX MAY BE USED. WHEREAS, the revenue from the municipal hotel tax is critical to the tourist and convention industry; and WHEREAS, the municipal hotel tax currently funds creation and continuation of convention facilities and tourist related activity such as the arts and historical projects and activities; and WHEREAS, the construction operation, and improvement of tourist attractions through issuance of bonds is a viable economic activity of cities; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi endorses and supports House Bill 2883 by Representative Todd Hunter that would permit revenue from the municipal hotel tax to be used to retire debt service on bonds issued to finance the creation, improvement, or continuation of a regional or state tourist attraction.
