CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF AN ELECTION
HELD ON THE 1ST DAY OF APRIL, 1989, FOR THE PURPOSE OF
DETERMINING WHETHER OR NOT THE TERRITORY ADJACENT TO THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, DESCRIBED IN ORDINANCE NO. 20590,
ORDERING SUCH ELECTION, SHOULD BE ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF SUCH
ELECTION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, on the 14th day of February, 1989, the City Council of the
City of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed Ordinance No. 20590, calling an election
to be held within the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, on the 1st day of April,
1989, and such election was ordered and submitted to the qualified voters of
said City the question of whether or not certain territories should be annexed
to the City of Corpus Christi, said territories to be annexed consisting of four
areas lying adjacent to and adjoining the present boundaries of the City of
Corpus Christi as set forth in said ordinance; and
WHEREAS, on February 14, 1989, the City Council delineated City voting
precincts, showing corresponding county precinct numbers, designating polling
place locations, all as set forth in said Ordinance 20590 in which the new
proposed boundary line of the City would encompass the following designated
areas, all as more particularly described by metes and bounds or lots and blocks
and maps or plats thereof on file in the office of the City Secretary and the
Planning Department and made a part hereof by reference the same as if copied
verbatim herein, being generally described as follows:
PROPOSITION 1
Northwest Area Annexations
AREA A - TRACT 1
An area containing 10.0 acres, more or less, located north of F.M. 624 and being
bounded to the west by River Hills Drive and to the north by River Hills Country
Club consisting of a 20 -lot platted residential neighborhood known as River Hill
Subdivision.
AREA A - TRACT 2
An area containing 6.0 acres, more or less, generally located south of F.M. 624,
west of and adjacent to the Riverside Hospital Tract, bounded on the west,
north, and east by the present city limit line, and on the south by the south
boundary line of the Riverside Hospital Tract extended.

PROPOSITION 2
Southside Area Annexations
(Not Including Rodd Field Village Area)
AREA B - TRACT 1
An area containing 5.0 acres, more or less, located south of and adjacent to
Saratoga Boulevard (State Highway 357) , having 370 feet, more or less, fronting
on Saratoga and being 620 feet deep, more or less, and bounded on the west,
north, and east by the present city limit line and on the south by the south
boundary line of Lot 1, Block 7, William J. Robertson Farm Lots extended.
AREA B - TRACT 2
An area containing 5.0 acres, more or less, located at the southwest corner of
the intersection between Saratoga Boulevard (State Highway 357) and County Road
37 and bounded on the west by the present city limit line, and on the south by
the easterly extension of said present city limit line.
AREA B - TRACT 3
An area containing 448.0 acres, more or less, generally located south of
Saratoga Boulevard (State Highway 357) , between Cabaniss Field and Everhart
Road, bounded by Cabaniss Field on the west, by Nottarb Place and Country Club
Subdivision on the north, by Everhart Road, Breckenridge Subdivision, Weber's
Glen Subdivision, Cedar Ridge Subdivision on the east, and the Oso Creek on the
south.
AREA B - TRACT 4
An area containing 163.0 acres, more or less, generally located between Everhart
Road and Weber Road extended and north of and adjacent to the Oso Creek, bounded
by Cedar Ridge Subdivision and Sugar Ridge Subdivision on the north, the Lakes
Subdivision on the east, and by Oso Creek on the south and west.
AREA B — TRACT 5
An area containing 107.0 acres, more or less, generally located south of the
existing city limits north of Oso Creek, between Everhart Road and South
Staples Street, bounded on the north by the present city limit line, on the east
by South Staples Street, on the south by the Oso Creek, and on the west by
Everhart Road extended.
AREA B - TRACT 6
An area containing 2.0 acres, more or less, generally located east of Everhart
Road and south of Oso Parkway, surrounded by the city limits bounded by Oso
Parkway (a continuous curve) on the west, north and east sides, and bounded by a
two -foot wide strip within the city limits on the south.

AREA B - TRACT 7
An area containing 18.0 acres, more or less, bounded on the north by Yorktown
Boulevard, on the east by Dallas Street, on the south by Oso Parkway, and on the
west by Everhart Road.
AREA B - TRACT 8
An area containing 27.0 acres, more or less, bounded by Everhart Road on the
west, by Creekway Subdivision on the north, by a 130 foot wide drainage easement
on the east, by a line that is approximately 820 feet from and parallel to the
north right-of-way line of Yorktown Boulevard on the south.
AREA B - TRACT 9
An area containing 52.0 acres, more or less, generally located between South
Staples Street and Everhart Road, north of and adjacent to Oso Parkway, bounded
by a 2 -foot strip that is inside city limits and Stoney Brook Subdivision on the
north, by the present city limits line on the east, and by Oso Parkway on the
south and west.
AREA B - TRACT 10
An area containing 54.0 acres, more or less, being entirely surrounded by the
city limits and King's Crossing Subdivision, generally located north of Oso
Parkway and east of South Staples Street.
AREA B - TRACT 11
An area containing 112.0 acres, more or less, located west of and adjacent to
Cimarron Boulevard extended, bounded by the Oso Creek on the south, and by the
present city limit line on the west and north sides.
AREA B - TRACT 12
An area containing 9.0 acres, more or less, generally located west of Cimarron
Boulevard extended and south of Oso Parkway, being entirely surrounded by the
King's Crossing Subdivision golf course and the present city limit lines.
AREA B - TRACT 13
An area containing 1,294.0 acres, more or less, bounded on the north by Saratoga
Boulevard (State Highway 357), on the east by Cimarron Boulevard (County Road
13) and Brighton Village Subdivision, on the south by Yorktown Boulevard, King's
Crossing Subdivision, South Staples Street, Stoney Brook Subdivision, and a
2 -foot wide strip that is within the present city limits, and bounded on the
west by Dallas Street, Buckingham Estates Subdivision, Creekway Subdivision,
Crossgate Subdivision, Hunter's Point Subdivision, and South Staples Street.

AREA B - TRACT 14
An area containing 37.0 acres, more or less, bounded on the north by Brighton
Village Subdivision, on the east by Cimarron Boulevard, on the south by Lipes
Avenue, and on the west by Brockhampton Street.
AREA B - TRACT 15
An area containing 0.5 acres, more or less, being approximately 20 feet wide by
1,175 feet long, l ocated directly east of the intersection of Rodd Field Road
and Saratoga Boulevard, bounded by the present city limit line and Lake Placid
Estates on the north, by a private park on the south present city limit line,
the north boundary line of South Fork Subdivision, and by the east right-of-way
line of Rodd Field Road on the west.
PROPOSITION 3
Rodd Field Village Area Annexations
AREA C - TRACT 1
An area containing 109.0 acres, more or less, sometimes called Rodd Field
Village, bounded by Yorktown Boulevard on the north, by Rodd Field Road extended
on the east, Bill Witt Park on the west, and by a line, more or less, parallel
to the south right-of-way line of Yorktown Boulevard and approximately 2,580
feet distance therefrom on the south.
AREA C - TRACT 2
An area containing 8.0 acres, more or less, generally located west of Rodd Field
Road, extended and south of Yorktown Boulevard, being approximately 200 feet
wide by 1,330 feet long, bounded by Bill Witt Park on the east, and by the south
line of Bill Witt Park extended to the south.
PROPOSITION 4
Padre Island Annexations
AREA D - TRACT 1
An area containing 202.0 acres, more or less, known as Corpus Christi -Padre
Island Coquina Bay Subdivision, generally located west of Padre Island Drive
(Park Road 22) , being south of and adjacent to Encantada Avenue, also adjacent
to, but west of Palmira Avenue, bounded by Corpus Christi -Padre Island Sea Pines
Subdivision Unit 1 on the south, by Sea Pines Drive and by a presently
undeveloped area known as Corpus Christi -Padre Island Cape Summer Subdivision
Unit 2 and the present city limit line on the west, and bounded by Corpus
Christi -Padre Island Ports O' Cal l Subdivision and Corpus Christi -Padre Island,
Section 4, Tradewinds Subdivision on the north.

AREA D - TRACT 2
An area containing 14.0 acres, more or less, surrounded by the city limits and
generally located west of Padre Island Drive (Park Road 22) , north of and
adjacent to Whitecap Boulevard, east of and adjacent to Das Marinas Drive, and
bounded by the Padre Isles Country Club golf course on the east.
AREA D - TRACT 3
An area containing 4.0 acres, more or less, surrounded by the city limits and
generally located west of Padre Island Drive (Park Road 22) , east of and
adjacent to Das Marinas Drive, being 1200 feet, more or less, north of Whitecap
Boulevard and bounded by the Padre Isles Country Club golf course on the east.
AREA D - TRACT 4
An area containing 3.0 acres, more or less, generally located west of Park
Road 22, 1,600 feet, more or less, north of Whitecap Boulevard, east of and
adjacent to Das Marinas Drive, being presently surrounded by the existing city
limit line and the Padre Isles Country Club golf course.
AREA D - TRACT 5
An area containing 22.0 acres, more or less, generally located west of Park
Road 22, 3,500 feet, more or less, north of Whitecap Boulevard east of and
adjacent to Das Marinas Drive, being presently surrounded by the existing city
limit line and the Padre Isles Country Club golf course.
AREA D - TRACT 6
An area containing 35.0 acres, more or less, known as Corpus Christi -Padre
Island, Section E, generally located east of Park Road 22 and north of Whitecap
Boulevard, bounded by Corpus Christi -Padre Island, Section D, and the present
city limit line on the north, by Leeward Drive on the east, and by Corpus
Christi Padre Island, Section C, on the south.
WHEREAS, notice of said election was actually given as directed by law
and as directed in the ordinance calling the election as is shown by affidavits
properly filed in the office of the City Secretary; and
WHEREAS, said election was duly and legally held on the 1st day of
April, 1989, in conformity with the election ordinance passed by the City
Council as aforesaid, and the result of said election has been certified and
returned to the City Secretary and to this Council by the proper judges and
clerks thereof, and the City Council this day has duly and carefully considered
the returns of this election on the propositions set forth by Ordinance 20590;
and
WHEREAS, it appears to the Council, and the Council so finds, that
said election was in all respects lawfully held, and said returns duly and
legally made; and

WHEREAS, the Council, having fully checked all of the procedures
relative to such election, and it appearing to the Council, and the Council so
finds, that a majority of the legally qualified voters of and within the City of
Corpus Christi voted in favor of annexation of such additional territory as
stated under said propositions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the returns of the election held on the 1st day of
April, 1989, at the various precinct voting places as provided for in the
ordinance ordering the election, and all of said voting precincts and voting
places being in the city limits of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, and all
being convenient places within the said city limits, the returns of said
election are hereby received and are hereby canvassed.
SECTION 2. That the tally of votes cast in the election on the 1st
day of April 1989, for the annexation of certain territory being generally
described in each proposition are hereby declared as follows:
PROPOSITION 1
Northwest Area Annexations
FOR the annexation by ordinance to its corporate limits
of its Northwest region (commonly known as the Calallen
Area) two tracts of land totalling 16 acres, more or less.
AGAINST the annexation by ordinance to its corporate limits
of its Northwest region (commonly known as the Calallen
Area) two tracts of land totalling 16 acres, more or less.
Proposition 2
Southside Area Annexations
(Not Including Rodd Field Village Area)
FOR the annexation by ordinance to its corporate limits fifteen
(15) tracts of land in its Southside Area totalling 2334 acres,
more or less.
AGAINST the annexation by ordinance to its corporate limits fifteen
(15) tracts of land in its Southside Area totalling 2334 acres,
more or less.

PROPOSITION 3
Rodd Field Village Area Annexations
FOR the annexation by ordinance to its corporate limits two 15,631
tracts totalling 117 acres.
AGAINST the annexation by ordinance to its corporate limits two 9,124
tracts totalling 117 acres.
PROPOSITION 4
Padre Island Annexations
FOR the annexation by ordinance to its corporate limits on
Padre Island six tracts of land totalling 280 acres, more or less.

That the tally of votes cast in the regular election held on the 1st
day of April 1989, made and certified to by the City Secretary of the City of
Corpus Christi, a copy of which is attached to and made a part of
Ordinance NO, ,206 4j. canvassing returns and declaring the results of
the general election held on April 1, 1989, be and the same is hereby adopted as
the official tally of the votes cast at said election and that said tally be
filed and recorded in the official records of the City of Corpus Christi as the
official canvass of said election.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the necessity
for the governing body of the City of Corpus Christi to canvass the results of
the aforesaid election held on April 1, 1989, such finding of an emergency is
made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration
and voting upon ordinances at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is
passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the
3rd day of April, 1989.
