AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 20637 TO PROVIDE FOR CO -CHAIRPERSONS
OF THE ETHICS COMMISSION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance 2.0637 passed and approved by the City
Council of the City of Corpus Christi on March 28, 1989, be and the same hereby
is amended by amending Sectior 1(d) thereof to read as follows:
The curnmission shall elect co -chairpersons from its membership.
A rn,.L(_,r.,.s ul the commission shall constitute a quorum.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the the fact
that the Ethics Commission has requested authority to appoint co -chairpersons in
order to best achieve its purpose and time is of the essence because of the
Commission's three month term, and this amendment is necessary to promote the
efficient and effective administration of the City's affairs, such finding of an
emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to
consideration and Vct.irl uprr.e.) ut tt.ree regular meetings so that this
ordinance is passed and shall +take effect upon first reading as an emergency

or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
