EXPRESSING THE CITY'S SUPPORT FOR FEDERAL LEGISLATION
PERTAINING TO FEDERAL TAX CREDITS FOR REHABILITATION OF
HISTORIC BUILDINGS & FOR LOW-INCOME. HOUSING
WHEREAS, the maintenance of an area's architectural heritage is of
importance to a community; and
WHEREAS, an entire community benefits economically from an active
renovation industry; and
WHEREAS, the need to provide low income housing is ongoing and increasing;
and
WHEREAS, these needs can only be addressed through a joint effort of the
public and private sectors; and
WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States of America is considering
legislation which would reinvigorate tax credits for projects involving low-income
housing & rehabilitation of historic buildings and thereby encourage participation in
such projects.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE LT RESOLVED B1' THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi endorses and
supports Lhe Community Revitalization Tax Act of 1989 (HR 796, Si 342) and
respectfully request the Congress of Ltie United States of America to adopt this
legislation.
