STANDARDS, ARTICLE I, IN GENERAL, SECTION 13-1, STANDARD
BUILDING CODE, ADOPTED; AMENDMENTS, BY AMENDING
SECTION 106.6 BY ADDING A NEW PARAGRAPH 106.6.3; AMENDING
PARAGRAPHS 107.2, 107.7, AND 2204.9; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERANCE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.

TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Code, CLapLrr i uildi ,;5; .r siructicn
and Related Operations; Housing and Housing Premises Standards, Article I, In
General, Standard 13-1, Standard Building Code adopted; amendments, is hereby
amended by amending Section 106.6, Permits Not Required by adding a new
paragraph 106.6.3 to read as follows:
106.6.3 Ordinary minor repairs may be made without a permit, providea
that such, r(a:r5 shall not violate any of the technical provisions of
hr Lity's code.
Permits shall not be required for the repair or replacement of the
following:
1. Screens for windows and dcors;
2. Fences less than 7' tall;
3. Driveways and paving within your property not to be used to
support a structure;
4. Roof patching (Less than 25 percent of roof areas may be repaired
within 12 month period):
5. Painting (interior, exterior);
6. Floor or wall covering;
7. Repair and/or replacement of exterior siding, brick veneers,
masonry, trims or other exterior wall coverings not exceeding
25 percent of the wall;
8. Cabinets without furr down spaces (surface meunteu);

10. Batting cages of chain link;
11. Repairing non-structural and/or non -fire resistive components of
a building without altering the exit system;
12. Replacing or repairing sheetrock and paneling that maintains
existing standards;
13. Uncovered patios at ground level;
14. Tennis courts fencing of chain link;
15. Fixing broken stair treads;
16. Installing or replacing locks;
17. Shelves;

18. Anchored/tied down pet housing less than 40 square feet in area;
15. Temporary frame work used to protect shrubbery from freeze
conditions;
20. Recreational equipment suc as »r..ta`:ricei:.0 ar 71,9 sets, picnic
tables, lawn furniture and other portable equipment;
21. Clothes hanging pole supports;
22. Tree forts (play houses) less than EO square feet in area.
SECTION 2. That the City Code, Chapter 13, Buildings; Construction
and Related Operations; Housing and Housing Premises Standards, Article I, In
General, Section 13-1, Standard Building Code adopted; amendments, is hereby
amended by amending Section 107, Fees, b, ume,nding paragraph 107.2, Failure to
Obtain a Permit to read as follows:
107.2 --Failure to Obtain a Permit.
In the event that work for which a permit is required by this
cede is commenced prior to the issuance of the required permit, then a
fee shall be due in accordance with the Permit Fee Schedule.
SECTION 3. That the City Code, Chapter 13, Buildings; Construction
and Related Operations; Housing and Housing Premises Standards, Article I, In
General, Section 13-1, Standard Building Code adopted; amendments, is hereby
amended by amending Section 107, Fees, by amending paragraph 107.7,
Investigation Fee to read as follows:
107.7--lnvestigation Fee.
If the Building Official causes an inspection to be made and the
resultant discovery is that work for which a permit is required by
this code, has been done, but the required permit has not been issued
or obtained, then an investigation fee shall be due in accordance
with the Permit. Fee Schedule.
SECTION 4. That the City Code, Chapter 13, Buildings; Cvnstructicn
and Related Operations; Housing and Housing Premises Standards, Article I, In
General, Section 13-1, Standard Building Code adopted; amendments, is hereby
amended by amending Section 2204, Moving of Buildings, by amending paragraph
2204.9, Owner's Deposit and Agreement Required, to read as follows:

for the necessary improvements, the owner of the lot to which the
house, building, or structure is proposed to be moved shall place on
deposit with the City of Corpus Christi a cash deposit of $500, and an
affidavit whereby the owner agrees that if the specified required
improvements are riot made within the required time period, then the
$500 deposit shall be forfeited and the City of Corpus Christi shall
retain said deposit, provided that the Building Official is authorized

to grant extensions of time not to exceed an aggregate total of 120
days for cause beyond the control cr 'hr _r,rer upon appeal. Such
retainage of deposit is to help defray the additional clerical and
inspection costs incurred under such circumstances and is not a
penalty and is riot preclusive of any remedy otherwise available to the
City of Corpus Christi to enforce this code. If the necessary
improvements are completed within the required time period, then said
$500 cash deposit shall be refunded when the certificate of occupancy
is issued.
SECTION 5. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word or prevision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or
oncun3t tutici_1 ,,ucgnert of a court of competent jurisdiction, it
shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word
or provision of this ordinance tor it is the definite intent of this City
Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or
provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 6. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption stating in
substance the purpose of the ordinance, this ordirance to become effective upon
such. publication.
