AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE UPON APPLICATION OF REALTY
ALLIANCE OF TEXAS, LTD. BY GRANTING A SPECIAL COUNCIL PERMIT
FOR A 20 SQUARE FOOT FREESTANDING SIGN NOT TO EXCEED 20' IN
HEIGHT, TO BE LOCATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ATTACHED SITE
PLAN AND RESTRICTING THE EXISTING SIGN TO ITS PRESENT SIZE
ON THE NORTHWESTERN ONE-HALF OF BLOCK 1, TRACT D, LOKEY
SUBDIVISION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has forwarded to the City
Council its reports and recommendations concerning the application of
Realty Alliance of Texas, Ltd. for amendment to the zoning map of the
City of Corpus Christi.
WHEREAS, public hearing was held at which hearing all
persons wishing to appear and be heard were heard to consider the same
before the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, in accordance
with proper notice to the public, said public hearing having been held
on Tuesday, September 5, 1989, during a meeting of the City Council in
the Council Chambers at City Hall in the City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, by motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was
decided by the City Council that to approve the hereinafter set forth
amendment would best serve public health, necessity and convenience
and the general welfare of the City of Corpus Christi and its
citizens:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, is amended by making the change hereinafter set out.
SECTION 2. That a Special Council Permit be granted on the
northwestern one-half of Block 1, Tract D, Lokey Subdivision, situated
in the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, and further
described by metes and bounds attached hereto as Exhibit A, for a 20
square foot freestanding sign not to exceed 20' in height, to be
located in accordance with the site plan, attached hereto as
Exhibit B, and restricting the existing sign to its present size, and
subject to all other considerations of "B-4" General Business
District.
In the event the Board of Adjustment grants any special
exception or variance to the Zoning Ordinance, applicable to the
Special Permit herein granted, other than the one specified in this
Special Permit, said Special Permit shall be void and of no force and
effect whatsoever.
SECTION 3. That the official zoning map of the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas, be and the same is hereby amended as herein
ordained.

SECTION 4. That the Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas, approved on the 27th day of August, 1973, as
amended from time to time, except as herein changed, shall remain in
full force and effect.
SECTION 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 6. That upon written request of the Mayor or five
Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due
to the need for efficient administration of City affairs by granting
the aforesaid zoning change, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration
and voting upon ordinances at three regular meetings so that this
ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon firs reading as an

Description of a 2.055 acre, more or less, tract of land out of
Lot 1-D, Lokey Subdivision, Nueces County, Texas. said 2.065 acre
tract as further described by metes and bounds as follows:
Beginning at the Point of Intersection of the northeast boundary
line of City of Corpus Christi Drainage easement and southeast
right-of-way line of South Staples Street for the present
westernmost corner of said Lot 1-D and of the tract herein
described:
Thence N29°00'00"E 292.28' along said southeast right-of-way line
of South Staples Street to a point for the present northernmost
corner of this tract and said Lot 1-D;
Thence along the northeast boundary line of said Lot 1-D
S60°53'53"E 307.72' to a point for the easternmost corner of this
tract:
Thence S29°00'00"W 292.28' to a point in the southwest boundary
line of said Lot 1-D being said northeast boundary line of
drainage easement for the southernmost corner of this tract;
Thence along said southwest boundary line of Lot 1-D being said
northeast boundary line of City drainage easement N60°53'53"W
307.72' to the Point of Beginning.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
