HomeMy WebLinkAbout020774 RES - 09/12/1989A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE TEXAS RAILROAD COMMISSION TO CONSIDER THE CONCERNS OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI RESIDENTS OF DONA PARK, MANCHESTER, AND ACADEMY HEIGHTS SUBDIVISIONS REGARDING THE PROPOSED CONVERSION OF THE BRINE PIPELINE AND ANY ADVERSE EFFECTS TO ITS RESIDENTS. WHEREAS, on September 5, 1989, at the Corpus Christi City Council meeting, residents of Dona Park, Manchester, and Academy Heights Subdivisions protested the proposed conversion of a brine pipeline to a high pressure gas pipeline; and WHEREAS, the brine pipeline has been used solely for transporting brine since the pipeline was built in approximately 1933; and WHEREAS, the proposed conversion pipeline goes through the Dona Park, Manchester, and Academy Heights Subdivisions, in some cases within twenty (20) feet of houses; and WHEREAS, the City Council of Corpus Christi is concerned for the safety of the residents of Dona Park, Manchester, and Academy Heights Subdivisions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Corpus Christi City Council hereby requests the Texas Railroad Commission to consider the concerns of the Corpus Christi residents of Dona Park, Manchester, and Academy Heights Subdivisions regarding the proposed conversion of the brine pipeline and any adverse effects to its residents. SECTION 2. That the City Secretary is hereby instructed to send a copy of this resolution to the Texas Railroad Commission.
