NOMINATING AND DESIGNATING CORPUS CHRISTI GREYHOUND
RACING ASSOCIATION A QUALIFIED BUSINESS AND ENTERPRISE
PROJECT PURSUANT TO THE TEXAS ENTERPRISE ZONE, ACT, ART.
5190.7 V.T.C.S.
WHEREAS, the City desires to pursue the creation of an economic and social
environment_ which will induce the Investment of private resources in productive
business enterprises located in the Zone and wi11 provide employment to residents of
the Zone and to other economically disadvantaged individuals; and
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi City Council (the "City Council") has
this date proposed the designation of a stale enterprise zone (the "proposed
Enterprise Zone") by City of Corpus Christi Resolution No. t;,i ; and
WHEREAS, Lhe Texas Enterprise Zone Act., Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes Art.
5190.7 (the "Act") authorizes the designation of enterprise projects within an
enterprise zone; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 10 of Lhe Act., Corpus Christi Greyhound Racing
Association has applied to the City for designation as an enterprise project; and
WHEREAS, the City finds that Corpus Christi Greyhound Racing Association
meets the criteria for designation as an enterprise project under Section 10(c) of
the AcL on the following grounds:
1. Corpus Christi Greyhound Racing Association is a "qualified business" under
Section 3(a)(9) of the Act_ since it will be engaged in the active conduct of a
trade or business in the /one and at least twenty-five percent (25=,) of the
business employees will be residents of the 'Zone or economically disadvantaged
individuals;
Corpus Christi Greyhound Racing Association is located in the Zone which has an
unemployment rale of not less than one and one-half (1-1/2) times the slate
unemployment rate;
The. -e has been and will continue to be a high level. of cooperation between
public, private, and neighborhood entities within the Zone; and
I. The designation of Corpus Christi Greyhound Racing Association as an enterprise
project will contribute significantly Co the achievement of the plans of the
City for development and revitalization of the Zone.
WHEREAS, the City finds that IL is in the best interests of the City to nominate
Corpus Christi Greyhound Rac ng Association as an enterprise project pursuant. Le the
Act;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY 'PHE CLTY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The findings of the City and its actions approving this resolution
Laken at the Council Meeting are hereby approved and adopted.

SECT[ON 2. The Corpus Christi Greyhound Racing Association is a 'qualified
business', as defined in Section 3(a)(9) of the Act, and meets the criteria for
designation as an enterprise project, as set forth in Section 10 of the Act_
SECTION 3. The City hereby nominates Corpus Christi. Greyhound Racing
Association as an enterprise project in accordance with the Act, and authorizes the
City Manager or his designee to file an application requesting designation of Corpus
Christi Greyhound Racing Association as an enterprise project with the Texas
Department of Commerce, and to execute all documents and agreements therewith.
SECTION 4. Upon approval of the Texas Department of Commerce, the enterprise
project will be named Corpus Christi Greyhound Racing Association.
SECTION 5. The enterprise project shall take effect on the date of designation
of the enterprise project by the Texas Department of Commerce and terminate five (5)
years after that date of designation.
