AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE UPON APPLICATION OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, BY CHANGING THE ZONING MAP IN REFERENCE
TO A PORTION OF BLOCKS 41, 42, AND 43, BROOKLYN ADDITION,
ALL OF BLOCKS 5, 6, 7, 41, 42, 43, G, AND H, CORPUS CHRISTI
BEACH HOTEL ADDITION, AND THE WATER AREA BOUNDED ON THE
NORTH AND SOUTH BY THE EXTENSIONS OF COASTAL AVENUE AND
PEARL STREET, RESPECTIVELY, AND ON THE EAST BY THE PRESENT
"B-2" ZONING BOUNDARY, A LINE GENERALLY EAST OF AND 1,000'
FROM NORTH SHORELINE BOULEVARD, FROM "B-2" BAYFRONT BUSINESS
DISTRICT TO "BD" CORPUS CHRISTI BEACH DESIGN DISTRICT; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has forwarded to the City
Council its reports and recommendations concerning the application of
the City of Corpus Christi for amendment to the zoning map of the City
of Corpus Christi.
WHEREAS, public hearing was held at which hearing all
persons wishing to appear and be heard were heard, to consider the
same before the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, in
accordance with proper notice to the public, said public hearing
having been held on Tuesday, September 26, 1989, during a Council
meeting of the City Council in the Council Chambers at City Hall in
the City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, by motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was
decided by the City Council that to approve the hereinafter set forth
amendment would best serve public health, necessity and convenience
and the general welfare of the City of Corpus Christi and its
citizens:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, is amended by making the change hereinafter set out.
SECTION 2. That the zoning on a portion of Blocks 41, 42,
and 43, Brooklyn Addition, all of Blocks 5, 6, 7, 41, 42, 43, G, and
H, Corpus Christi Beach Hotel Addition, and the water area bounded on
the north and south by the extensions of Coastal Avenue and Pearl
Street, respectively, and on the east by the present "B-2" zoning
boundary, a line generally east of and 1,000' from North Shoreline
Boulevard, in the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, and
more fully described by metes and bounds attached hereto as Exhibit A,
be changed from "B-2" Bayfront Business District to "BD" Corpus
Christi Beach Design District.
SECTION 3. That the official zoning map of the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas, be and the same is hereby, amended as herein
ordained.

SECTION 4. That the Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City
Corpus Christi, Texas, approved on the 27th day of August 1973,
amended from time to time, except as herein changed, shall remain
full force and effect.

SECTION 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 6. That upon written request of the Mayor or five
Councilmembers, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to
the need for efficient administration of City affairs by granting the
aforesaid zoning change, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration
and voting upon ordinances at three regular meetings so that this
ordinance is passed and shall take effect .uppn fir t readingsan

THENCE in a southeasterly direction with said south right-of-way line exten-

of-way line of 100 Loot wide North Shoreline Blvd. for the northeast corner
of this tract;

boundary line, its intersection with the present Breakwater (sometimes called
the North Beach Breakwater), for an interior corner of this tract;
THENCE continuing in a southeasterly direction, with said present "B-2"
zoning boundary lice and with the present Breakwater, to a point, its
intersection with southeasterly extension of the north right-of-way line of
60 foot wide Pearl Street for the southeast corner of this tract;
THENCE in a northwesterly direction, with said north right-of-way line of 60
foot wide Peari Street and its southeasterly extension, to a point, its
intersection with the east right-of-way nine of 200 foot wide U.S. Highway
18i, tor the southwest corner of this tract;
THENCE in a northeasterly direction, with said east right-of-way line of 200
foot wide U.S. Highway 181, to its intersection with the aforementioned

or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three

and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
