RESOLUTION
GRATEFULLY HONORING ANDY ALANIZ WHO GAVE HIS
LIFE FOR OUR COUNTRY
WHEREAS, Andy Alaniz was a native of Corpus Christi, a valued citizen of the
community, who graduated from Moody High School where he participated in the Trojan Drama
Club and other activities; and
WHEREAS, Andy Alaniz volunteered and was accepted to serve in the United States
Army, and was assigned to the Twenty-fourth Infantry Division; and
WHEREAS, the United States, through its elected President and Congress,
determined to halt Iraqi aggression in the Persian Gulf and bring peace to the area; and
WHEREAS, Andy Alaniz responded to his nation's call with valor and patriotism,
contributing to an ultimate victory of historic proportion; and
WHEREAS, on March 1,1991, at 20 years of age, Andy Alaniz died in the Persian
Gulf War, making the supreme sacrifice for his country and fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, his wife Catherine Lee Alaniz, his parents Cecilio and Teresa Alaniz,
his other family members, and his fellow citizens have suffered a terrible and irreplaceable loss;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That all citizens of this community gratefully honor the memory of
Andy Alaniz, and the ideals for which he gave his life.
SECTION 2. That the community's deepest sympathy and support be extended to
the family of Andy Alaniz in their great loss.
