HomeMy WebLinkAbout021108 RES - 03/12/1991RESOLUTION EXPRESSING CORPUS CHRISTI'S STRONG SUPPORT FOR HOUSE BILL 2102 WHEREAS, in 1989 the Texas Legislature approved expansion of Corpus Christi State University to a full four year university mission in 1994; and WHEREAS, CCSU's successful transition to four year status is of paramount importance to the educational needs of Corpus Christi and South Texas, and is one of Corpus Christi's highest priorities; and WHEREAS, adequate funding is essential during this transition period to enable CCSU to provide the services of a four year university in 1994; and WHEREAS, State Representatives T. Hunter, Berlanga, Cavazos, and Earley have introduced House Bill 2102 in the 72nd Texas Legislature which will provide essential funding to CCSU in the 1991-93 fiscal biennium for capital requirements in an amount not to exceed $30 million through Tuition Revenue Bonds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi, strongly supports as the highest priority, House Bill 2102, by Representatives T. Hunter, Berlanga, Cavazos, and Earley. SECTION 2. That the City Manager and staff are directed to advise all local legislators and other pertinent officials of this resolution, and to take all steps necessary to support and obtain passage of House Bill 2102 to support Corpus Christi State University.
