SUPPORTING PASSAGE
OF SENATE BILL 715
WHEREAS, present provisions for ensuring collection of the local hotel
occupancy tax are inadequate to ensure payment by the responsible party; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 715 has been introduced in the 72nd Texas Legislature
which would require the purchaser of a hotel to withhold from the purchase price an
amount sufficient to pay the amount due; thus ensuring payment.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi supports Senate Bill 715.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager and staff are directed to advise all local
legislators and other pertinent officials of this resolution, and to take all steps necessary to
support Senate Bill 715.
