SUPPORTING PASSAGE
OF HOUSE BILL 1690
WHEREAS, the redemption period for non -homestead property sold for
unpaid taxes is two years;
WHEREAS, said time period is excessively long and unduly burdens local
governments and the administration of such property; and
WHEREAS, House Bill 1690 has been introduced in the 72nd Texas
Legislature establishing a redemption period of six months for non -homestead property.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi supports House Bill 1690.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager and staff are directed to advise all local
legislators and other pertinent officials of this resolution, and to take all steps necessary to
support House Bill 1690 and any constitutional amendment necessary for it to be effective.
