SUPPORTING PASSAGE
OF SENATE BILL 809
WHEREAS, present law prohibits cities from requiring permits for commercial
hazardous waste incinerators within their limits or extraterritorial jurisdiction;
WHEREAS, cities have a vital interest in regulating such facilities for the
public health and welfare; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 809 has been introduced in the 72nd Texas Legislature
authorizing cities to establish permitting systems for commercial hazardous waste
incinerators.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi supports Senate Bill 809.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager and staff are directed to advise all local
legislators and other pertinent officials of this resolution, and to take all steps necessary to
support Senate Bill 809.
