SUPPORTING PASSAGE
OF HOUSE BILL 1731
WHEREAS, employees involved in refuse collection of necessity must
frequently work in areas of streets used by vehicular traffic;
WHEREAS, such employees should be protected by law from undue risk in
performing their occupations; and
WHEREAS, House Bill 1731 has been introduced in the 72nd Texas
Legislature which would provide such employees with the protections now accorded children
boarding or deboarding school buses.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi supports House Bill 1731.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager and staff are directed to advise all local
legislators and other pertinent officials of this resolution, and to take all steps necessary to
support House Bill 1731.
