SUPPORTING PASSAGE OF SENATE BILL 466 PERMITTING CITY
REGULATION OF POSSESSION OF OPEN CONTAINERS OF
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES.
WHEREAS, consumption and possession of alcoholic beverages in certain
public places presents a distinct threat to public safety;
WHEREAS, local authority to regulate such consumption and possession needs
clarifying and strengthening; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 466 has been introduced in the 72nd Texas Legislature
and would alleviate some of these problems.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi supports Senate Bill 466.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager and staff are directed to advise all local
legislators and other pertinent officials of this resolution, and to take all steps necessary to
support Senate Bill 466.
